This is an official invitation to collaborate with byNWR!

What do Kubrick, Puccini and Mozart have in common? They were all great artists who died leaving unfinished masterpieces which were completed by someone else. And now, with some audacity, we want to add dear old Andy Milligan to this list.

Who was Andy Milligan?

Andy Milligan was the genius behind the crazy, no-budget, shot-on-Staten-Island post-Civil War opus HOUSE OF SEVEN BELLES; he made over 27 films, featuring such unforgettable titles as Fleshpot on 42nd Street, Torture Dungeon and The Rats Are Coming, The Werewolves Are Here!

A former dress designer, Milligan made all the costumes in his movies under the alias Raffinê, and he wrote, shot and edited all his films himself – a virtual one-man movie machine. Milligan’s bizarre yet deeply personal approach has gained Andy a rabid cult following amongst those with a taste for the outrageous and unusual, and his HOUSE OF SEVEN BELLES – thought to be lost until the lone workprint was rediscovered – has been restored and is being shown for the first time ever on byNWR. You can watch it HERE.

What can YOU do?

Milligan ran out of money and never finished HOUSE OF SEVEN BELLES, so we want YOU to do it. That’s right – check out the film, decide how you want it to end, and submit your finale in any medium – video, a song, a poem, a script, an essay, graphic art, whatever medium you choose. We know there’s a lot of artistic, clever creative members lurking within our utterly unique byNWR community, so we want you to give it an ending befitting of its insane blend of hysteria, hoop dresses and tea parties. HOUSE OF SEVEN BELLES is free to watch on, alongside another “lost” Milligan work, COMPASS ROSE, plus there’s a host of Milligan articles and readings, so immerse yourself in Milligan's oddball world and get inspired.

There are no real rules or restrictions to this contest. You have no money? Perfect, neither did Andy Milligan. You want to slap big wigs and hoop skirts on your friends and act out the ending? Go to it. Build your cast out of Lego, or use dinosaurs and robots, we don’t care. Just make it original.

All entries will be reviewed by the byNWR team, and the shortlist will be unveiled to the world on the byNWR Expressway. The overall winner will be announced on social media; they will have their entry featured on byNWR for the public to see, get feedback on their entry from the byNWR team, and there's an extra special surprise prize…
